Hemashree Hosahalli Nagaraju (1982 – 9 October 2012)[1][2] was Indian actress who worked in Kannada television soap operas. A struggling actress, she had also appeared in a handful of Kannada films in supporting roles. At the 2008 Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections, she contested with a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket for her home town Chikkanayakana Halli in the Tumkur region of Karnataka.[1][2] She died of mysterious circumstances in October 2012, and her husband Surendra Babu was alleged to have murdered her.

Miyan ki Todi, often simply referred to as Todi or Darbari Todi (IAST: Toḍi), is a Hindustani classical raga which gave its name to the Todi thaat, one of the ten types of classical music according to the musicologist Bhatkhande. Ragas from the Todi raganga (class of ragas) include Todi (a.k.a. Miyan ki Todi) itself, Bilaskhani Todi, Gujari Todi (also called Gurjari Todi), Desi Todi, Hussaini Todi, Asavari Todi (more commonly known as Komal Rishabh Asavari), and Bahaduri Todi.

जसराज के अनुसार शास्त्रीय संगीत के कार्यक्रमों में यदि एक हजार से अधिक श्रोता आ जाएँ तो उसे बेहद सफल कार्यक्रम माना जाता है, लेकिन इन रियलिटी-शो में दस-दस हजार तो दर्शक रहते हैं और टीवी के माध्यम से इसे लाखों लोग देखते हैं। यह एक उत्साहजनक बात है।

किराना घराने के प्रख्यात शास्त्रीय गायक पं. भीमसेन जोशी को देश के सर्वोच्च नागरिक सम्मान भारत रत्न मिलने पर संगीत जगत से जुड़ी तमाम हस्तियों ने कहा है कि वे भारत रत्न के असली हकदार थे और सरकार से अपील की कि प्रतिभा का सम्मान वक्त रहते करना चाहिए।

प्रसिद्ध खयाल गायक जोड़ी राजन साजन मिश्र के साजन मिश्र ने कहा पंडित भीमसेन जोशी को भारत रत्न मिलने की हम दोनों को ही नहीं, बल्कि पूरी संगीत बिरादरी को बेहद खुशी है। वे भारतीय संगीत जगत के महानायक हैं और ऐसे कलाकारों को भारत रत्न से नवाजने के लिए सरकार भी बधाई की पात्र है।

Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan (1909–93) was an Indian classical vocalist from the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana. He was a disciple and son of Fida Hussain Khan and after a long and illustrious career was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1971 He was the court musician of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III at Baroda and was featured extensively on All India Radio. He was a specialist in Tarana. His most famous disciples are Ghulam Mustafa Khan and Rashid Khan.
