A. R. Rahman

Allah Rakkha Rahman is a famous composer of Hindi films. He was born on January 6, 1967 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. After birth, his name is A. S. Dilip Kumar Mudaliar was kept, which was later changed to A. R. Be merciful. Apart from his mother tongue Tamil, Rahman, the king of melodies, has also given music in films in Hindi and many other languages. The Times magazine named him Mozart of Madras.

Rahman is the first Indian to be awarded the Golden Globe Award. A. R. Rahman is the first Indian to receive three Oscar nominations for his music in the British Indian film Slumdog Millionaire. The song 'Jai Ho' from the same film won two Grammy Awards in the category of Best Soundtrack Compilation and Best Film Song.

Early life:

Rahman was born in the city of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu to a middle class Tamil Mudaliar family. His father R.K. Shekhar was the director and producer of Tamil and Malayalam films. Rahman always helped his father in his childhood. When Rahman was only 9 years old, his father had died, he rented his father's musical instruments and started running his house. Which was later taken over by his mother Karima.

Rahman was a better keyboard player. He also arranged the band on several occasions, as he did with his childhood friends Sivamani, John Anthony, Suresh Peters, Jojo and Raja, and later on the Chennai based rock group Nemesis Avenue.
