Meditation with morning ragas....One of the most famous names associated with Classical Carnatic Music is that of Dr. Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna. This legendary musician was also an able composer, playback singer, poet, actor and multi-instrumentalist. Apart from working with famous Indian musicians like Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Kishori Amonkar, he also worked with several foreign musicians. Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty is poised nearly as a cult figure among all the legendary Indian Classical Vocalists of today.

O.S. Thyagrajan | Carnatic Vocalist

Meditation with morning ragas....O. S. Thiagarajan is a Carnatic Musician based in Chennai. He is the son and disciple of Sangeetha Booshanam O.V.Subrahmanyam. He learnt music from Sangeetha Kalanidhi T. M. Thiagarajan, while Padmabhushan Lalgudi Jayaraman provided guidance/mentor ship early in his career. An ‘A-Top’ graded artist of the All India Radio and of Doordarshan, he has been giving a large number of concerts, and is considered one of the eminent artists of his generation.

Uday believes that when immersed in the note and raga, the self disappears and music takes on its own existence; the principle of ‘darshan’ in Indian philosophy.

Aranya's expertise of the sitar along with his profound knowledge of instrumental music theory and history has brought him to become a guest lecturer at the Karnatak University of Dharwad, where he has been teaching sitar since 2003.
