Trina Chatterjee is an enterprising versatile vocalist in the style of Hindustani Classical & Light Music. With culturally rich 'Bong' roots she has been singing for All India Radio since the age of 15. Chala Maahi Des is one of the lesser known Bhajans of Meera Bai. This 16th century verse is imbued with the characteristic selfless devotion for the Lord that Meera is acclaimed for. Lyrics: Chala wahi/maahi des, Preetam pawa, jalaan wahi des Kaho kusumal saari rangawa, kaho tho bhagawa bhes. Kaho toh motiyan maang bharaawa, kaho chhitkaawa kes. Meera ke prabhu Giridhar naagar, sunagyo Birad nares. Translation: Let’s go to that country, To find my lover, I have to go to that country … If you say I would colour my saree with floral colours, If you say I would wear saffron (holy dress). If you say I would wear pearls in my hair, If you say I would keep my hair disheveled.
