As an Urban region, SURAT in the mid-twentieth century was a sleepy, slow-moving small time business centre. But its people had a distinct character in so far as they loved to enjoy life in all its worldly as well finer manifestations including art, music, literature and cultural festivals.
- As an expression of their zest for Indian classical music, an organization named Swar Sangam was founded by Late Dr. Ravindranath Dixit, Late shree Surendra Shethji, Late Shree Dinkar Nazar, etc. It provided a platform for renowned music maestros and budding artistes of promise and potential to perform before the Indian Classical Music lovers of Surat.
- Ever since then Surat has expanded not only in population, business and industry but also in activities for the promotion of various forms of fine arts. Of the organizations for the promotion of Indian Classical Music, one noteworthy name is that of Pranav Parijat Trust, which, perhaps, is the latest, but not the least notable among them.
- The uniqueness of the Pranav Parijat Trust lies in the fact that it is Shri Sunil Kanaiyalal Modi’s personal venture. It was founded and funded by this businessman turned artiste in 1999. Also the uniqueness of its founder Shri Sunil Kanaiyalal Modi lies in the fact that having started his career as a college teacher, Shri Sunil Modi engaged himself in the business of a share broker’s firm inherited by him from his father.
- As a matter of fact Sunil Modi had love for music even as a young boy. In the child hood he took initial training from Kalaguru Late Shree Prtabhuram Gandharva , Late Shree Pannalal Gandharva , Late shree Harikrishna Gandharva. He learned intensive training from Late Pt. Mahadevbhai Shastry – Sharma, a disciple of Sangeet Martand Pt. Omkarnath Thakur.
- His true artiste in him flowered somewhat late in life. Having handed over reins of Business in charge of his sons, Sunil Modi pursued his deep-rooted interest in Indian Classical Music and started taking training at the age of 55 , under the able guidance of Shri Ganpatram Kapadia. He did not hesitate to sit as his Guru’s disciple along with learners much younger than himself. As a result of his dedication and disciplined training and riaz he obtained the degree of Sangeet Pravin (Vocal) which is equivalent to a doctoral degree in other branches of knowledge.
- In starting Pranav Parijat Trust with an initial corpus of Rs. 21 LACS ( Rs. Twenty one Lakh ) which was donated by his wife Smt. Rohini Modi and established Pranav Parijat Trust under the Indian Trust Act. His main aim of starting this trust to do something for the cause of North Indian Classical Music. The trust is motivating young talent and giving opportunities to perform before connoisseurs so that their confidence develops. Thus, it can be said that Pranav Parijat Trust is primarily a performers’ platform where budding talents in Indian Classical music get opportunities to give concerts.
- Indian classical music is so profound and so vast that an artiste, however talented, cannot attain perfection without due exposure to the art of great masters in the field. With that greater objective in mind, Shri Sunil Modi, under the auspices of Pranav Parijat Trust, organizes concerts of better known artistes for young artistes as well as music lovers for free.
- Pranav Parijat Trust is also arranging cultural festivals of garba, folk dances, ras, and literature. Also the trust arranges seminars, training camps and workshops and regular classes for the benefit of students of Indian Classical Music. Besides it also extends financial assistance to students unable to bear the cost of training so that growing talent may not get smothered for want of monetary means.
- In all this Sunil Modi has been fortunate in getting support and co-operation of his family, his wife, his sons, daughters in law as well as friends like Dr.Rushi Kumar Shastri, well-known maestro and friend Mr.Dilip Marfatia, Advocate Hiten Dave, Mr Navneet Modi, who constitute the Board of Trustees of Pranav Parijat Trust.

પ્રણવ પારિજાત ટ્રસ્ટ (સરકાર માન્ય) છેલ્લા ૧૫ વર્ષથી સૂરત શહેર અને જીલ્લા કક્ષાએ સંગીત પ્રચાર અને પ્રસારનું કાર્ય અત્યંત સેવા ભાવનાથી અને નિષ્ઠાપૂર્વક કરે છે. અમારું આ ટ્રસ્ટ ટ્રસ્ટ એક હેઠળ નોંધાયેલું ટ્રસ્ટ છે. અને તેમાં ક્રવામાં આવતા કાર્યક્રમો, સેમીનાર, કાર્યશાળાઓમાં કોઈ પ્રકારની ફી વસુલ કરવામાં આવતી નથી.
ટ્રસ્ટ દ્વારા કરાતી પ્રવૃત્તિને વેગ મળે અને એક વિશ્વાસનું વાતાવરણ પ્રાપ્ત થાય તે હેતુથી, નામદાર ગુજરાત સરકારની યોજના મુજબ માન્યતા પ્રાપ્ત કરવા માટેની અરજી કરી હતી. અમને જણાવતા આનંદ થાય છે કે, “પ્રણવ પારિજાત ટ્રસ્ટ"ને ગુજરાત સરકારશ્રીના શિક્ષણ અને મજુર વિભાગના ક્રાવ ક્રમાંક એમ.યુ.એસ. - ૧૦૬૬ - ૧૫૩૬૪ - ગ - તા. ૩૦-૬-૧૯૬થી માન્થ થયેલ નિયમોને આધીન રહીને, જાન્યુઆરી ૨૦૧૬ થી ગુજરાત રાજય સંગીત નાટક અકાદમી - કમીશનરશ્રી, યુવક સેવા અને સાંસ્કૃતિક પ્રવૃત્તિઓ-ગાંધીનગર. દ્વારા એક“માખ્ય કલા સંસ્થા તરીકેનો દરજજો પ્રાપ્ત થયો છે.
હવે અમે અમારા હેતુ સાકાર કરવા માટે, વધુ સક્રિય બની સંનિષ્ઠ પ્રયત્નો કરવાનું બીડુઝડપ્યું છે. અમે અમારા આ હેતુ સિદ્ધક્રવા
માટે, આપના ઉતકૃષ્ટ સહકારની અપેક્ષા રાખી છે. અને અમારા આ સેવાયજ્ઞમાં જોડાવવા માટે હાર્દિક નિમંત્રણ પાઠવીએ છીએ.
અમારી આ પ્રવૃત્તિમાં ગુજરાતમાં કાર્યરત, ગાયન વાદન અને નૃત્યના ક્ષેત્રે પ્રવૃત્ત - એટલે કે બહોળા અર્થમાં સંગીતક્ષેત્રે પ્રવૃત્ત સંગીત
સેવી તમામ શિક્ષકોને, કલાકારોને એક છત્ર હેઠળ ભેગા કરવાની નેમ રાખી છે અને સંસ્થાના હેતુઓ સાકાર કરી શકાય તે માટે
મહાગુજરાત ગાંધર્વ સંગીત સમિતિ” નામની એક પેટા સમિતિની સ્થના કરી છે. આ પેટા સમિતિ અત્રે નીચે જણાવેલ ઉદ્દેશો સિદ્ધ કરવાના
હેતુથી સંગીતના પ્રચાર અને પ્રસારના કાર્યની પ્રવૃત્તિ, ગુજરાત સ્થિત કલાગુરૂ અને કલાકારોની રાહબરી હેઠળ કરશે.
સંસ્થાના આ કાર્ય માટે અમે કોઈની પાસે નાણાની અપેક્ષા રાખતા નથી. અમારું ટ્રસ્ટ આપવામાં માને છે. તેવામાં નહીં. અમારી આ
નીતિરીતિ આપશ્રીને નમ્રતાપૂર્વકવિદિત કરીએ છીએ. નાદબ્રહ્ના ઉપાસકોની સેવા ક્રવી એ અમારો મંત્ર છે.
અમારા આ કામમાં પ્રભુની અનન્ય કૃપા સતત વરસતી રહેશે એવો દ્રઢ વિશ્વાસ છે. અમને આપના સક્રિય, નિરપેક્ષ, નિષ્ઠાપૂર્વકના
સહકારની જ અપેક્ષા છે.
મહાગુજરાત ગાંધર્વ સંગીત સમિતિ’ ના ઉદ્દેશો અને જણાવ્યા છે જે અંગે આપના સૂચનો આવકારીએ છીએ.
મહાગુજરાત ગાંધર્વ સંગીત સમિતિ હેતુ અને વહીવટ અંગેની સામાન્ય રૂપરેખા
મૂળભૂત હેતુઃ સંગીતનો પ્રચાર ક્રવાનો છે, સંગીત સેવાનો રાખ્યો છે, શિક્ષકો, ગુરૂજનોને પૂરક બની તેમના કાર્યને સરળ,
સહજ અને અસરકારક બનાવવાનો છે. જે માટે શકય વધુ આધુનિક ટેકનોલોજીનો ઉપયોગ કરાશે, અને વિવિધ જાણકારી
આપવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરીશું.
સાધકોનો સંગીતમાં રસ કેળવાય તે રીતે સમિતિ કામગીરી હાથ ધરશે. પરીક્ષાનું કાર્ય સંલગ્ન શિક્ષકોની સમિતિ મારફ્ત હાથ
ધરાશે. તમામ લેખિત મૌખિક પરીક્ષાનું આયોજન જે તે સંલગ્ન કેન્દ્ર ઉપર કરાશે.

પરીક્ષા એક માધ્યમ છે જેથી સાધક નિયમિત રહી શકે છે.
સમિતિ ગાયકી અંગથી પ્રસ્તુતિનો આગ્રહ સેવે છે.
શાસ્ત્રીય ગાયન-વાદનના વિષયમાં અનુકૂળતા મુજબ સંગીત શિક્ષકોને માટે અભ્યાસક્રમને આવરી લેતી સી.ડી. તથા
સાહિત્ય નિઃશુલ્ક ઉપલબ્ધ કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરવામાં આવશે.
શાસ્ત્ર અંગેનું પણ સાહિત્ય શિક્ષકોને માટે નિઃશુલ્ક ઉપલબ્ધ ક્રવાની નેમ રાખી છે.
રિયઝ માટે તાનપૂરા અને ઠેકાની સી.ડી. શિક્ષકોને નિઃશુલ્ક પહોંચાડવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરીશું.
સમિતિના તમામ પ્રકાશનો કાર્યાલય માંથી પ્રાપ્ત થશે.
સમિતિ દ્વારા આપવામાં આવેલ તમામ સાહિત્ય સી.ડી.ની કોપી કરાવી સંગીત ગુરૂ તેમના વિધાર્થીને આપશે એવી આશા
રાખી છે. અલબત્ત, સંગીત ગુરૂ તેની કોપી કરાવવા માટે ભોગવેલ ખર્ચ મેળવી શકશે.
શિક્ષક તેમની ગુરૂ પરંપરા મુજબ જ સાધકને તૈયારી કરાવે તેવી અપેક્ષા રાખી છે.
સમિતિએ રજુ કરેલ સાહિત્ય સી.ડી. માત્ર નમૂનારૂપ છે. તે મુજબ જ સાધકને તૈયારી કરાવવી એવો આગ્રહ રાખ્યો નથી.
અને રહેશે પણ નહીં.
શાસ્ત્રીય સંગીતનો પ્રચાર અને પ્રસાર થાય, સાધક સહજ રીતે પ્રસ્તુતિ કરતા થાય એવી અપેક્ષા સાથે પ્રવૃત્તિ કરવામાં
સમિતિ માને છે. કારણ કે તે કાજે તો ટ્રસ્ટની સ્થાપના કરી છે. આ કાર્યમાં સંગીત શિક્ષકોના બહુમુલ્ય યોગદાનની
અપેક્ષા રાખી છે. શિક્ષકોને તેમના વ્યવસાય દ્વારા, સમાજ સેવાની સાથે પરમાર્થ સાથે એવી ખેવના રાખી છે.

૧. સંગીતનો પ્રચાર અને પ્રસાર કરવો.
૨. સંગીતનું શિક્ષણ, પ્રશિક્ષણ, પરીક્ષણના કાર્યનું આયોજન કરવું.
૩. સંગીતનું સાહિત્યપ્રસિદ્ધ કરવુંઅભ્યાસલેખો પ્રસિદ્ધ કરવા.
૪. સંગીત ક્ષેત્રે સંશોધન કરવા માટે, સાધકોને માટે સગવડ ઉભી કરવી.
૫. સંગીતનું શિક્ષણ આપતી સંગીતક્ષેત્રે પ્રવૃત્ત એવી આગેવાન શિક્ષણ સંસ્થાઓના વિધાર્થીઓને તેમના
અભ્યાસક્રમ મુજબનું સાહિત્ય પુરું પાડી તેમને સહાયક બની, સંગીતનો વ્યાપ વધારવાના પ્રયત્નો કરવા.
૬. સંસ્થા સાથે સંલગ્ન કલાકારો તથા કલાગુરૂઓએ તેમના જ્ઞાન અનુભવના નીચોડરૂપ તૈયાર કરેલ
પુસ્તકોને જનતા સુધી પહોંચાડવા અને તેમ કરી, શિક્ષકોને પ્રોત્સાહિત કરવા તથા “પ્રણવ પારિજાત” નામે
મુખપત્ર પ્રસિદ્ધ કરવું.
(૦. સંગીતશિક્ષકોના શિક્ષણ કાર્યમાં પૂરક બનવું.
૮. ગુજરાતના વિવિધ જીલ્લા કક્ષાએ તેમજ ગામો અને શહેરોમાં, ગુજરાત સ્થિત કલાકારો તથા ઉગતા
કલાકારોના કાર્યક્રમો, સ્થાનિક કલાસંસ્થાઓ કે કલાગુરૂઓના સથવારે યોજવા અને સૌને સ્ટેજ પુરું પાડી
પ્રોત્સાહિત કરવા.
૯. વિધાર્થીઓને શિષ્યવૃત્તિઓ આપવી. સંગીતકારોનું સન્માન કરવું. તેમને આર્થિક સહાય કરવી.
૧૦. ગુજરાતના વિવિધ શહેરોમાં, દેશના અગ્રણી કલાકારોની સાથે ગોષ્ઠી, ચર્ચાસભાઓ, સેમીનાર અને
કાર્યશાળાઓ, ઓપવર્ગોનું આયોજન, સ્થાનિક સંસ્થાઓ અને ગુરૂજનોના સથવારે કરવું.
૧૧. ગાયન, વાદન અને, નૃત્યની ગુજરાત કક્ષાએ સ્પર્ધા યોજવી અને કલાસાધકોને પ્રોત્સાહન આપવું
સાથોસાથ સફળ થયેલા સાધકોને તેમજ તેમના શ્રી ગુરૂજનોને સન્માનિત કરવા.Exams
સંગીતના પ્રચાર અને પ્રસાર અર્થે સંસ્થા દ્વારા ગાયન, વાદન, ભરતનાટ્યમ અને કથક નૃત્ય શૈલી, આ દરેકની પ્રારંભિક થી સંગીતાચાર્યની પરીક્ષાનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવે છે, જેની યાદી પ્રસ્તુત કરી છે.
આ પરીક્ષાઓના નીતિ-નિયમો માટે RULES, REGULATION નો અભ્યાસ કરવો.
