Gokulotsavji Maharaj

Gokulotsavji Maharaj is a worldwide acclaimed most senior Hindustani Classical Vocal Music doyen, specializing in Khayal, Dhrupad Dhammar, Prabandh Gayaki and various Ancient Indian Musical Styles. He is also a singer cum composer, writer, poet, musicologist, and philosopher-Vedant scholar.

He is the recipient of many international and national acclaim, citations, awards and accolades. He received Padma Bhushan Year 2015, Padma Shri 2008, AIR Special First Prize-Gold Medal by President of India, National Tansen Samman, Dhrupad Ratna by Darbhanga Gharana of Dhrupad exponents and virtuosos, etc. He is also the top grade artist of Aakashwani(AIR) and DoorDarshan.

He composes music under the pen name MadhurPiya. He has created more than 5000 bandishes under the penname ‘MADHURPIYA’, comprising that of Khayal, Dhrupad Dhammar, Haveli Sangeet, Tarana, Sanskrit Taranas, Prabandh Gayki, Dwi Padi, Tri Padi, Chatus Padi, Shat Padi, Ashta Padi, etc using Meru Khand, Sakhand Meru, Khand Meru, Akhand Meru, SHUDHHA, BHINNA, GAUDI, VEGSWARA and SADHARANI and other musical styles of singing.

Pandit Ji has also created several new RAAGAS such as BHARAT KALYAN, ADHBHUTRANJINI , HEM GAUD, MADHURMALHAR, DIVYAGANDHAR, KHAT SHRINGAR, PRASANNA PADAA, etc which are sung and played all around the globe.

Neeta Mathur (associate professor at Vivekanand College Delhi University) has authored two books on Pandit Ji namely "Shashtriya Sangeet ke Surya Acharya (Pt) Gokulotsavji Maharaj"[3] and "Shashtriya Sangeet ke Bahuaayami Stambh evam Sangeet Vishwa Martand Acharya Pt Gokulotsavji Maharaj".
