Born on 11 July 1935 in Udupi, Karnataka, Pt. Indudhar Nirody belongs to the Agra gharana; he received his training in music from many gurus such as Shri. Pitre Rama Rao, Shri. Gurudatt Heblekar, Pt. S. C. R Bhatt, Pt. K. G. Ginde, Pt. Dinkar Kaikini and Pt. Chidanand Nagarkar.
Gifted with a robust and vibrant voice, Pt. Indudhar Nirody has carved out a niche for himself in the field of Hindustani music. A top-grade artist of All India Radio, Indudhar Nirody has performed and recorded 1896 bandishes written and published by Pandit Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande in his book Kramik Pustak Malika, and has released audio-video records of them titled 'Samarpan'. He has given many lecture-demonstrations on music. His lecture-demonstrations on the Agra gharana in thirteen episodes have been recorded by All India Radio, Bengaluru and have been broadcast by them. He has been associated with many prestigious institutions as member. He has trained many students.
Shri Indudhar Nirody is a recipient of several honours for his work. These include the Kala Tapasvi given by Sri Purandasa Tyagaraja Mattu Vagheyakara Aradhana Samiti, Mysore (2003), the Rajya Sangeet Vidwan Puraskar bestowed by the Government of Karnataka (2014) and the Kendriya Sangeet Natak Academy Award (2014).
