Kumar Sanu's house had a tradition of music from the very beginning. Dad was a classical music teacher. Mother also sang. The elder sister also sings on the radio and even today she is running her father's music school. In this way, the family atmosphere made Sanu a good singer. Conflict
Kumar Sanu's personal life went through many problems. He is married, divorced and now has a second wife who has been with him for 16 years. They have 2 daughters who are abroad and working in music and they have a son Jaan who sings very well. They still like to remember their old days. He loves Kolkata very much, so he goes there whenever he gets a chance and enjoys the street food there as he loves to eat. Kumar Sanu has set up ‘Kumar Sanu Vidyaniketan’ in Kolkata and Delhi for the education of poor children. He says that only education can change one’s thoughts and people can rise above the poverty line. He will also lay the foundation of this school in Mumbai. Children will be given uniforms and books in this school, then their parents will also be given money every month so that they can send their children to school for education, not employ them for money. Kumar Sanu also came into politics, about which he says that my purpose in going into politics was not to make money, because I have earned a lot. When Kishore Kumar died in 1987, Gulshan Kumar, the owner of the T-series, sang a lot of Kishore Kumar's songs to me to fill that 'vacuum'. His cassettes sold well at the time because they were cheap. Then 'Aashiqui' was the 'turning point' of my life after which I did not look back.
