In the not too distant past (beginning and first half of the 20th century), Hasrat Mohanani, Jigar Moradabad and Asghar created a constellation of poets emerging at an important period in India's history. Major political developments were taking place in the subcontinent and the sun was about to set on the British Empire. As a conscious member of society, poets and writers do not remain indifferent to changes in their socio-political environment. Not only India, but the world was in a state of flux.

Poets topped

Mohani, who is fond of shayari, had learned to say shayari from Ustad Tasleem Lakhanvi and Naseem Dehalvi. It is said that women did not have that status before Hasrat in Urdu poetry. In today's poetry, the woman who is seen as a friend and friend is due to Hasrat Mohani somewhere. There is hardly any person who does not like his ghazal written 'Chupke Chupke Raat Din Din Tshukh Yaad Hai'. This ghazal was sung by Ghulam Ali and later in the film 'Nikah', this ghazal was also included.

In his ghazals, he has written a lot about romanticism as well as society, history and power. The beauty of life as well as the spirit of freedom is reflected in their ghazals. He can be called the 'originator of the progressive ghazals. Hasrat spent all his life in poetry and trying and suffering in the struggle for freedom. How difficult it is to merge the beauty of literature and politics, when such an idea arises, then one automatically looks at the poetry of Hasrat.
