Malhar 1 Rag "Gaud Malhar Umad Ghumad"

Based on rainy season Malhar is a semi classical style of singing. Malhar itself mean “the rain.” Semi classical “Bandish” (Determined melody structure) are chiefly sung in this rag. Its main themes of this rag are the rain, love and the nature. This rag has a very prominent place among the seasonal ragas. It creates very melodious environment. This Rag is also known as Gaudh. This Rag is derived from Khamaj family. This Rag is the combination of some of the parts of Gaudh, Shuddh Malhar and Bilawal. The Wadi swara is Ma (Fa) and the Samvadi swara is Sa (Doh). The singing time of this raga is the 2nd watch of the night in rainy season. Music is not confined to the geographical boundaries.
