In Hindu mythology, Tumburu is the best of singers and the great composer of Gandharvas. He composed music and songs for the court of celestial deities. In the Puranas, Tumburu or Tumburu is described as the son of sage Kashyapa and his wife Prabha.

Tumbaru is often said to be the best among the Gandharvas. He sings in the presence of the gods. Like Narada, he is also considered the king of songs. According to ancient Puranas, Narada is considered the teacher of Tumburu. Narada and Tumburu are said to sing the glory of Lord Vishnu.

The amazing Ramayana mentions that Tumbaru was the best of all singers and was rewarded by Lord Vishnu. Narada, once jealous of Tumbaru, tells Vishnu Narada that Tumburu plays his music better than you, and then Vishnuji sends Narada to an owl named Ganabandhu to learn music.

After learning from the owl, Narada goes to Tumburu's house, where he sees that Tumburu is surrounded by wounded men and women, and then he realizes that they are musical ragas and raginis, who are badly injured by his bad singing. Were. Narada leaves the place embarrassed and they learn proper singing from the wives of Lord Krishna.

Tumburu is said to be a follower of Kubera and his songs are usually heard in Kubera's court. Tumburu or Thamburu teaches music and singing to the Gandharvas and is called the "lord of the Gandharvas" for his music. Tumburu is sometimes described as a sage rather than a Gandharva.

Tumbaru is often depicted as a horse-faced sage. They wear the veena and sing. After pleasing Shiva with his penance, Tumburu asked Shiva to grant him a horse-like face and immortality. Shiva blessed him and gave him the boon he sought.
